NSW Police have seized DVDs suspected as stolen or pirated, including copies of the latest Star Wars movie, Episode 3.

The DVDs, estimated to be worth $19,000, were seized during a raid carried out at a Prestons market Sunday, 22 May, by police from the Green Valley Local Area Command.

"Police seized almost 600 DVDs that are believed to have been pirated and included the latest Star Wars movie - Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith," according to a statement from NSW Police.

"Police also seized 50 DVDs that are believed to have been stolen from retail outlets."

According to the statement, the raid follows an operation in February where 1000 pirated DVDs and $30,000-worth of stolen property was seized.

Police planned to have the property which was seized in the Prestons raid classified by the Australian Federation Against Copyright Trade, before considering laying charges against five people, the statement said.

A police spokesperson said no further information on the operation was available at the time of writing.
