Orb claims half a million users
Place-shifting software developer Orb Networks claimed this week that more than 500,000 people have downloaded and are actively using the free Orb MyCasting service.

MyCasting allows users to turn their home computers into personal broadcasting systems, making digital media available over the internet.

"This milestone is significant for Orb because the rate of adoption and downloads have accelerated between the past three and six months," said Joe Costello, chairman and co-founder of Orb Networks.

"This shows that more people understand the powerful way that Orb and the internet lets them unlock the digital content on their home PC and enjoy it on any internet-connected 'screen', be it another PC, laptop, PDA or mobile device. "

Orb users have streamed a record 67 million hours, the equivalent of 125 years, of digital media from their home computer to a mobile phone, PDA, laptop or other PC.
