The NSW Government is building a knowledge-sharing forum for ICT workers across its agencies, similar to the one set up for public sector finance and HR professionals under the state's employ.

NSW Govt to share IT knowledge across agency lines

The Community of ICT Professionals, to be launched by NSW Government CIO Michael Coutts-Trotter on May 23, started taking registrations online about a fortnight ago.

State Records' Future Proof blog indicated the community was being established to satisfy a recommendation made in a government report handed down in January last year. (pdf)

"The NSW Government's Commission of Audit Interim Report identified the need to establish professional groups that share knowledge, create links and build capability across the public sector," the Future Proof blog post states.

The blog noted that the community "will provide a fantastic opportunity to learn, share insights and collaborate with colleagues working in all areas of NSW Government ICT".

A similar community for finance professionals has been in existence since 2008, providing a template for the establishment of the ICT community.
