Gampe has been named chief technology officer, which gives him a remit that spans NextDC's internal and customer-facing platforms, such as the OneDC management platform.

The firm said in a financial filing (pdf) that Gampe was required to place a "particular emphasis on security, governance and software development".

Gampe spent almost 11 years in various senior roles at Red Hat, most recently as vice president of global engineering services and operations, which included a shared services portfolio responsibility, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He also spent time as a senior director of engineering and managing director of Red Hat's Asia Pacific operations.

Gampe has also previously held roles at the Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC).
