Ex-Optus consumer chief joins.

Mobile virtual network operator Lebara Mobile has named ex-Optus consumer division lead Warren Hardy as managing director for Australia.

Lebara Mobile appoints new MD

Hardy brings more than 16 years experience in the Australian telecommunications market to Lebara, according to a statement.

Lebara Mobile CEO Yoganathan Ratheesan said: "Our Australian business has grown significantly since launch in March [last year]," said Lebara's chief Yoganathan Ratheesan.

"We anticipate continued significant growth under the strong, experienced leadership of Warren Hardy."

"Warren will broaden the reach of our product in the market, and continue to drive service excellence for our customers throughout 2010 and beyond."

Hardy will be based in Lebara Mobile's North Sydney head office.

Lebara uses Vodafone's network for its local infrastructure. The company's prepaid mobile products target multicultural communities that make a lot of international calls, it said at launch last year.
