HP has announced a new plan which could see the company expand its reach in the managed enterprise service field.

The company said that it would be expanding its Software Partner Program to add new licensing options.

The new setup will allow partner companies that offer enterprise IT services to sell a greater range of HP products and services to companies.

Among the new products which HP plans to allow partners to offer are the company's hosted application security tools and application performance validation tools.

With the expanded licensing terms and Managed Service Provider Program, the company now envisions its partners offering customers a number of different business models.

Proposed structures include multitenant systems where all users are supported with a single configuration, subscription plans based on individual usage and long term 'perpetual' service offerings.

"Customers can do more with flat or shrinking IT budgets when they have a choice of procurement models for software and services," said Brad Kern, of worldwide alliances and software and solutions for HP.

"With a wide range of partner programs to meet nearly any business model, HP is helping its partners deliver cost-effective solutions that meet customers’ budget requirements."

HP hopes that the expanded licensing will help to compliment the 'Cloud Assure' SaaS business HP unveiled in April.

The Cloud Assure programme targets the migration and setup of web-based applications and tools for enterprises.
