Suggest a dataset for public release.

Special Minister of State Gary Gray has revealed the new-look data.gov.au site today, replacing a beta site developed for the Government 2.0 Taskforce’s Mashup Australia contest back in 2009.

The site surfaced 200 public sector information datasets for public review and reuse.

 “The release of public sector information allows the commercial, research and community sectors to use data generated and collected by the Government and add value in new, innovative and exciting ways,” Gray said.

The new site enabled users to suggest datasets they would like released by Australian Government agencies; participate on the site by rating and commenting on datasets; and contribute submissions of mashups or data-based initiatives they produce.

It also offered support for agencies wanting to host datasets in the cloud although it noted agencies were still welcome to "store datasets on their agency site and provide a link through data.gov.au".
