France Telecom (FT) has rebranded Equant, its local business and data subsidiary as part of a global strategy.

France Telecom (FT) has rebranded Equant, its local business and data subsidiary as part of a global strategy.

FT’s international internet protocol communications and IT services, enterprise communications services, mobile for businesses and Equant will come under the, ‘Orange Business Services’ banner.

The Orange brand name was taken back by FT, after Hutchison decided in January not to renew its licensing deal for Orange.

An Orange spokesperson said, "the old Orange we know has now changed to 3G network. We've taken on Orange and added business services to differentiate between the old business and what we do - which is for commercial market only and not consumers.”

Equant was still the legal entity name, although the “company was only for its business products and for its network integration”, said the spokesperson.
