Data and AI company Databricks has appointed Adam Beavis as its new VP and country manager for Australia and New Zealand.

His appointment comes as the platform looks to bolster its growth and expansion strategy within the Australian and New Zealand region.

In his new role, he will be responsible for leading ANZ business and driving data lakehouse adoption across a range of industries, including retail, enterprise, FSI, digital natives, government and natural resources, mining and utilities.

Prior to joining Databricks, Beavis served as the managing director of AWS cloud management platform, Stax, where he led the business growth through innovation and international expansion into new markets.

He has also spent eight years at AWS in a variety of commercially focused roles, including managing director of ISV and digital native businesses, Asia Pacific & Japan, managing director of Australia and New Zealand, and director of enterprise.

Ed Lenta, senior vice president and general manager of JAPAC, Databricksa said Beavis brings with him a “wealth of experience” and a “proven track record” in helping businesses solve their technology problems.

“I have every confidence that he will play a critical role in the future of innovation and lakehouse adoption in the region, helping local customers understand the potential of data and AI on a unified platform,” he said.

Beavis said they are in a pivotal moment in time where data and AI technologies are evolving rapidly.

“The companies who succeed in the next five to 10 years will be those who can harness the power of their data and keep up with the pace of innovation,” he said.

“Databricks is a global leader in data and AI and is primed to help organisations in this pivotal moment. As AI continues to define innovation around the world, I’m excited to work with ANZ business to unlock the power of their data by utilising the Databricks Lakehouse Platform.”

Some of Databrick’s customers include Comcast, Shell and Toyota.
