CSIRO is looking for a chief information security officer (CISO) to push its cyber security innovation and aim to make an impact on the executive team.

The country’s national science agency’s chief information officer Brendan Dalton said on LinkedIn its “looking for a CISO who likes to work with people building a great cyberculture for Australia’s national research agency.”
A CSIRO spokesperson told Digital Nation the CISO role “at present this role is being performed” by Dalton.
“We expect that recruiting the right candidate will take some time, but hope to have someone in the role within the next 3 months,” the spokesperson added.
The selected candidate will also report to Dalton.
The agency posted it’s looking for someone to “lead strategy” and “drive cyber security innovation while keeping abreast of changing threats and risks.
In its job listing, it stated the new CISO will also “present to CSIRO's board; CE; senior executives on cyber security risks and threats and how to strategically prepare for these.”
More recently in April, CSIRO named Kirsten Rose as deputy chief executive, a newly created role designed to help lead the strategic direction of the agency.
At the time, the agency said Rose would team up with its innovation ecosystem while driving simplification and sustainability to increase the impact of science.
