Graphic design giant Canva has hit 100 million monthly active users (MAU) as it follows the recent launch of the Visual Worksuite, gaining 15 million additional MAUs.
Melanie Perkins, CEO at Canva said, “We’re incredibly proud to mark this milestone moment on our mission to empower the whole world to design.
“Visual communication is now more important than ever. Our continued growth demonstrates the huge demand for a collaborative, simple and all-in-one platform that empowers all kinds of teams, in all kinds of workplaces, to unlock their creativity and achieve their goals without complexity.”
In a blog post to its customers, Perkins said celebrating this milestone once seemed like a “wild dream.”
She said, “Nearly a decade ago, we launched Canva with the dream of putting great design and visual communication into the hands of anyone, anywhere, on any device. We believed that no matter your profession, your income, your location or your experience – everyone, everywhere, should be empowered to design.
“It seemed deeply unfair to us that such a powerful force for unlocking creativity was limited to a small number of people with expensive software or extensive training, and so, we set out to change things one person at a time.”
It took the business three years to reach one million MAU and two years after that to reach 10 million MAU.
“Today, reaching the milestone of more than 100 million people using Canva every month still feels incredibly surreal,” she added.
“We often say internally at Canva that we’re only 1 percent of the way there – and it’s certainly never been truer than it is today, as we dream even bigger.”
Launched in 2013, Canva is a free online visual communications and collaboration platform. The company boasts customers in 190 countries.
