Microsoft's first Lumia phone without Nokia branding is a mid-range device built around a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 quad-core system on a chip.
The device comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB onboard storage, expandable to 128GB with microSD cards; there's also 15GB of OneDrive cloud storage bundled with the Lumia 535.
With a 5-inch, 960 x 540 pixel resolution (220ppi) Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display, the Lumia 535 is 140.2mm tall, 72.4mm wide and 8.8mm thick.
While Microsoft has excised the Nokia brand from the new Lumia phone, it has kept several of the Finnish company's design elements such as colourful rear covers.
The Lumia 535 comes as a dual-SIM 3G model, a feature that is popular in developing markets. There is no LTE 4G model.
The Lumia 535 has the latest Windows Phone 8.1 "Denim" update installed, and is priced at around 110 euro (A$158).
Microsoft's answer to Apple's Siri voice recognition feature, the Cortana personal assistant, is also included in the Lumia 535 albeit in beta form.
