Brocade may have doubled the speed of its Fibre Channel product range to 16 Gbps, but our tour guide admitted its own data centre was still running 8 Gbps and was "in the process of being upgraded".
Apparently this data centre contains "hundreds of milllions of dollars" worth of equipment, much of it hidden inside these slick cabinets.
This data centre is used by Brocade for solution testing and demonstrators. Much of the hardware has already been ordered by clients but is configured and tested in this space for a number of weeks with simulated traffic before being transplanted to the customer's own data centre.
Michael Howard, principal analyst at Infonetics, reckons we'll be seeing Dell-branded CloudPlex gear in the near future.
