Review: PassGo Defender v5.2
Defender 5 deploys strong two-factor authentication controlled within Windows Active Directory to ensure that only authorised users have access to protected resources. It supports administration for multiple token types including hardware, software and Mobil SMS.

PassGo Defender was easy to load on to our test server and configure. Within 20 minutes, it was all set up, ready for multiple users.

The product incorporates a snap-in that seamlessly plugs into Active Directory, making administration and management of user accounts simple with Microsoft standard tool sets. Another bonus is the user self-registration. Defender 5 walks the end-user through this process with ease, providing a reduced workload and piece of mind for technical support staff.

The software/hardware combo performed flawlessly within our test environment. The administration interface for user identification configuration is well designed, and the tabbed-folder layout of the user interface is very straightforward.

Documentation for this product is outstanding, with absolutely nothing left to chance. It is easy to follow, with step-by-step instructions for all phases of the deployment process. The information also includes a large array of screenshots that greatly assists with setup. All documentation is supplied on a single CD, which makes it convenient to locate datasheets and trouble-shooting manuals.

PassGo provides multiple support options to assist any size enterprise, including a standard maintenance package and an even more feature-rich premier package. The standard and premier packages are not included in the product price and are available starting at an annual fee of 15 per cent of the product list price, and a minimum fee applies.

Defender 5 starts at £9 per user. Keeping in mind that annual support fees will vary based on the organisational users and type of maintenance package purchased, this represents excellent value.
