Jamf - innovating employee experience through Apple Wallet

The emerging ‘work from anywhere’ paradigm not only means that organisations need to rethink their IT and security stack to keep the business safe… it also means that organisations need to make technology work for their employees’ growing needs.

As the WFH/hybrid office trend evolved, security remains a core concern for management. Traditionally security and IT teams have often faced competing goals but the work from anywhere challenge demanded that these two areas align and sync as a business priority.

Dr Covington says the current focus is on how to innovate with mobile technologies that workers have really embraced for work so that they can interface better with their physical spaces, wherever they are. The sweet spot for Jamf is empowering organisations to be able to offer their employees the flexibility to choose devices at work that they love to interface with, almost as much as those devices that they choose for their personal lives, by making those devices enterprise secure and compliance ready.

“We've been very, very focused on helping our customer bring together the best of device management, identity and endpoint security into a model that really allows organisations to focus on outcomes,” he said. 

At Jamf, in order to streamline employee access back to the office, Jamf has been leveraging digital wallet technology on mobile devices as a way of replacing employee access badges.

“We're providing businesses with a way to get rid of those physical cards, make it so that it's possible to just use the digital wallet in the mobile device that you've already given the employee as a way of gaining access to any Jamf building globally,” he says.

It is an area that Jamf has rolled out internally both on company-owned devices as well as BYOD devices. “Now our workers can utilise Apple Wallet (via iPhone or Apple Watch) to gain access directly to physical spaces that are controlled by Jamf. Both buildings as well as self-service kiosks. This means that employees don't need to remember that employee access card anymore. All they need now is their iPhone or Apple Watch.”

Using centralised identity access technologies, the company can secure all facilities and revoke or reinstate employee access remotely, ensuring infrastructure remains secure while also improving the workflows and the day-to-day lives of employees
