Video sharing site goes after college students.

YouTube muscles in on Facebook
Video sharing site YouTube has launched a service available exclusively to US college students.

Colleges on YouTube allows students to share videos that can only be viewed by other college members.

Like student social networking site Facebook, members are required to have an .edu email address to sign up for the service, which are only available to students and faculty members.

"Want to see the highlights of last weekend's game (or last night's party)? It's easier than ever to share videos with friends at your college on YouTube. Join up and add videos to the pool," reads the introduction on the site.

"You can also start or join groups within your college to hook up with others who have the same interests."

Thirty US colleges are currently listed on the site, with a further 30 to be added soon.

Earlier in the month, YouTube signed an agreement with Paris Hilton to promote a channel dedicated to the hotel heiress.

Paris Hilton's YouTube channel offers videos, from behind-the-scenes material of the making of her latest music video to footage of a recent trip to Tokyo.
