DigitalNationES, the esports organisation launched as part of Digital Nation Australia's Year in the Metaverse initiative, scored a top-three ranking in just its second major competitive outing since it was formed in April.

The team, consisting of Wyrcee, BanditNZ (pictured), TuffXP, Tekorai and coach Bdiiz plays in the ESL Halo league.
Throughout the year the DigitaNationES team members will help tell the story of technologies such as NFTs, metaverses and crypto, and participate in our board and C-suite Web3 bootcamps, and share some of the more extraordinary stories from this emerging sector in our soon to be launched Metaverse Minutes series.
Gaming and esports are widely recognised as the sandbox for many Web3 technologies and for that reason are increasingly attracting venture funding from companies internationally such as Andreessen Horowitz which announced its $US600M GAMES FUND ONE in May, and locally PAC Capital's $50 PAC Private 1.
Explaining the rationale for the fund, Clayton Larcombe, PAC Capital's chief investment officer told Digital Nation Australia, "I feel it's not a bad time either given the volatility around the world in global markets, in listed markets, it's not a bad time to take some money off the table out of direct equities, into some more opportunistic companies that are not valued every day, but have the chance to look at it for the next five years, we'll grow and hopefully take a multiple of your money out. That’s the aim.”
