$40m-plus infrastructure deal signed.

Southern Cross Electrical Engineering will deploy a package of communication, process control plant, instrumentation and electrical infrastructure for the Tropicana gold project in Western Australia.

Work on the $40 million-plus contract will commence immediately and conclude in May next year, according to an ASX filing. (pdf)

The Tropicana project is a joint venture between AngloGold Ashanti Australia, which holds a 70 percent stake, and Independence Group.

The remote project is located 330 kilometres east-north-east of Kalgoorlie.

The engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) firm in charge of civil works is Lycopodium.
