Trend Micro has increased its employee numbers locally by around 20 percent.
It claims the hike is due to demand from its Australian customers and channel partners for Internet security support, services and products.
According to Dave Patnaik, who was recently appointed managing director for Trend Micro A/NZ, despite the economic downturn, it has had a positive reaction to its Smart Protection Network initiative.
"The Internet cloud is growing and along with it is an unprecedented volume of Web and email threats that can harm company servers, workstations and networks," said Patnaik.
"Security experts predict over 25,000 new threats per hour by 2015 and our Australian customers are looking for innovative answers.
"Since taking this role in August 2008, I've seen a definite spike in demand from companies seeking our help to manage web security threats on their network. In response, we've made significant changes to the business locally to meet customers' changing needs," he added.
The increase in personnel is across Trend Micro's entire business division including major accounts, enterprise, small/medium business, consumer, channel management, channel and end user marketing, telemarketing, and technical services.
It has also increased its resource allocation in a new major account team to support its top 100 customers and more staff have been added in the SMB & Consumer business.
"We also recently opened a new Queensland office to support our growing client base there, and added service engineers in most locations nationally to provide increased technical support to all our customers," said Patnaik.
"We've also added dedicated channel account managers for all our global system integration channels and key channel partners, and increased our channel marketing and services support to these partners even more. It's a holistic approach across the business to meeting the increased demand," he added.
