Second only to resources sector.

IT firms remain confident of their growth prospects in the next three months, expecting to increase or maintain headcount at current levels, according to Hudson.

Technology job prospects buoyant

The recruiter, which surveyed 4481 employers on their hiring expectations for April to June 2012, said that IT was second only to resources in terms of buoyancy in hiring attitudes.

Most hiring is expected to take place in NSW and the Australian Capital Territory, where 43 percent of those surveyed expected to make new hires in the time period.

Overall, almost 40 percent of IT employers expected to hire. In resources, 55 percent of those surveyed expected to hire in the next three months.

IT project managers continue to be in demand, as do skills in related program and communications/stakeholder management, Hudson noted.

Hudson said the rise of cloud computing and the rollout of the NBN were driving more jobs in ICT.
