Superloop buys SkyMesh's NBN fixed-line users

Superloop has bought SkyMesh’s fixed-line NBN customer base and “relevant infrastructure” for $1.5 million.

SkyMesh’s owner Bigblu Broadband said in a financial filing that the fixed-line business had been “disposed” of, allowing SkyMesh to focus on fixed wireless and satellite, for which it is mostly known.

Superloop said it would incorporate the 11,000 customers into its recently-formed retail unit, Superbb.

Bevan Slattery, Superloop’s founder and chief, said the purchase would “kickstart our position in the NBN retail marketplace”.

Slattery said that Superbb would “aggressively disrupt the Australian ISP landscape”, taking on what is largely an extremely concentrated internet market owned largely by four players - Telstra, Optus, TPG and Vocus.

Superbb is expected to launch publicly in October. It has already built links to all 121 points of interconnect, allowing it to service a national customer base.
