Sophos has opened a new office in Western Australia.

Located in Kobolt House in western Perth, the office will enable Sophos to meet the increasing demand in the region and build on its current client base.

Newly appointed business development manager Aaron Dousaldo will head up the local team.

With more than 18 years' experience working in the IT industry, Dousaldo will be responsible for fostering existing business relationships and driving new sales in the emerging market.

"Sophos has built an extensive partnership network across Australia and we believe expanding our presence to include a Perth operation will enable us to better serve our clients in the region," said Rob Forsyth, the company's managing director.

"We are seeing increased interest in computer security from businesses located on the western seaboard. With research showing that up to 97 percent of all business email is spam; this recent spike in demand is really no surprise."

Sophos's head office for the Asia Pacific region is located in Sydney and features research and development, threat analysis and technical support facilities.
