Intrusion detection firm nCircle granted key patent.

Security firm touts end of false positives
Security firm nCircle has been awarded its third patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office for an 'Interoperability of Vulnerability and Intrusion Detection Systems'.

NCircle uses the patented technology in its nTellect product, which integrates its risk management system with intrusion detection and intrusion prevention systems.

The vendor claims that the system can reduce false positives by more than 95 per cent.

The most recent patent covers innovations which claim to "greatly improve the effectiveness of intrusion detection and prevention systems by virtually eliminating false positives through real-time correlation with end-point vulnerability intelligence".

Tim Keanini, chief technology officer at nCircle, said: "Through this patent, our integrated solutions virtually eliminate false positives in vulnerability and intrusion detection and allow companies to focus on responding to 'real' risks."
