Carbon offsetting marks start of environment-friendly program.

Salesforce.com goes green
Customer relationship management firm Salesforce.com is to spend US$126,000 making its operation "carbon neutral".

The cost will offset the almost 20,000 tonnes of CO2 that the company estimates will be released thanks to the energy needs of its offices, data centres and staff commuting.

The Silicon Valley company will back five projects using renewable sources to make up for the energy used by its operations.

Salesforce.com hopes to add to its green image in the future by helping provide hybrid cars for its workforce and increasing its recycling programs.
