Apple is said to be booking a venue for a possible unveiling of a new iPhone model in June.
According to media reports, the company has booked time at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in downtown San Francisco.
Apple has frequently used the venue for new product announcements and releases, including the debut of the iPad earlier this year.
The late June date also coincides with Apple's preferred release schedule for new iPhone models. Apple released the original iPhone in late June 2007, while the iPhone 3G and 3GS have been announced in the month as well.
Rumours of an impending event come in the aftermath of Apple's announcement on the new iPhone operating system.
Version 4.0 will be the first to support multi-tasking as well as Apple's new iAds advertising platform.
The company has not yet given a release date for the iPhone OS beyond this winter. An iPad version is set for release later this year.
