REA Group has appointed former BHP senior leader, Elisa Nerone as its chief people and sustainability officer (CPSO).

Nerone kick started her role this July, forming part of the group’s executive leadership team and reporting to the CEO.
An REA spokesperson told Digital Nation, “In her new role, Elisa is responsible for REA’s people and sustainability strategies.”
“She leads teams across business partnering, organisational development, HR operations, talent acquisition, community partnerships and sustainability, and will be key to fostering REA’s unique high-performance culture,” the spokesperson said.
Nerone said via LinkedIn she was “excited to share” the appointment while in an REA Group statement, Nerone added she was “inspired by REA’s purpose-led strategy”.

“Embracing innovation and diverse perspectives is essential to maximising growth opportunities and enhancing the capabilities of a team and I look forward to helping drive REA’s high performing culture." Nerone said via REA Group’s LinkedIn.
Nerone makes the move over to the real estate group from the mining company, BHP where she was the vice president HR, minerals Australia, Asia and global functions for around two years.
While at BHP Nerone also held the global head of people strategy, HR technology and governance for around two years.
Nerone took on senior roles at Latitude Financial Service for three years plus work at SAP SuccessFactors and talent business, Maxme.
Prior to this, Nerone was with BHP for over ten years across various HR-based roles.
Mary Lemonis, who held the REA Group CPSO role for over five and a half years until November 2023, said on LinkedIn that after “almost 6 years, I have finished up at REA Group for a big break”.
“On the cards is a get fit plan, some hip surgery, recuperation and of course travel and quality time with my family and friends, before I look to get back into work from August 2024.’
“I am incredibly grateful for the experiences I’ve had working with such an exceptionally talented team and leave proud of my contributions to the growth and sustainability of REA Group’s people, culture and business,” Lemonis said.
