Glenn Walker, formerly executive director of ICT renewal at Queensland’s peak IT agency the Department of Science, IT, Innovation and the Arts, has started work in his new role as Technology One’s business development manager.

iTnews reported Walker’s split with the state government in January this year. He worked his last day on 14 February.

Walker's first foray into the private sector has seen him hand back responsibility for Queensland’s ambitious ICT Action plan and all of its 78 items - charting the government's path to technology remediation following the dire findings of a state-wide IT audit.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Walker will earn his way at Technology One by “helping our clients achieve their goals by providing totally customised advice for a range of projects including replacing legacy ERP systems...and assisting organisations' transition to using enterprise software as a service”.

The Queensland-based cloud specialist reported a 15 percent year-on-year increase in profit in FY 2013 with revenues of over $180 million. It employs roughly 900 staff in Australia and abroad.

Walker is expected to draw upon his experience navigating the early stages of a $100 million payroll replacement at the Department of Community Safety as part of his new remit.

DISITIA advised it would start looking for a replacement “immediately”, but has since made several structural changes to unit Walker once worked within.

Technology One declined to comment on the appointment.
