Services go offline in Brisbane and surrounds.

Optus has attributed a "router issue" to a telecommunications outage that affected fixed and mobile data services in parts of Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast this morning.

Optus blames router for Queensland outage

An Optus spokeswoman told iTnews the unspecified router issue had caused a service disruption of about 25 minutes, despite forum posts indicating the problems may have lasted up to an hour for some customers.

Earlier unconfirmed reports pinned the cause of the disruptions on a Uecomm fibre cut in Brisbane's CBD, but the Optus spokeswoman could not confirm or deny the reports.

Several ISPs and connectivity providers confirmed issues in status notifications to users.

"Optus are experiencing significant problems in Brisbane with internet services. Expect problems if you are connecting Bris. Optus users," Spectrum Networks said in a tweet this morning.

ISP Exetel also indicated the presence of an "unplanned ADSL/data services outage" in Queensland. It later said the problems were affecting "some corporate data services" as well as consumer products.

Optus Business said on its Twitter account it had logged a fault for Queensland.

Radio station 4BC reported that affected services in Brisbane's CBD had been re-routed and were now operating as normal.
