Dovetail Distribution has built an online shop and support website for its resellers to answer partner requests for streamlining and simplifying ordering and sales from the distributor.
John Poulter, sales and marketing director at Sydney-based Dovetail Distribution, said the online store would launch 5 September. The store was for resellers only and would cut administration time both for the distributor and its partners, he said.
Dovetail's "online shopping store" would provide order tracking, purchase history reporting, advanced searching, part-shipment and detailed descriptions for more than 1000 products, he said.
"Resellers are often very busy and our main objective was to cut down their administration time," Poulter said. "We wanted to give them one single location to give them everything they need at the click of a button."
He said the online store would also incorporate evaluation and credit application forms, white papers, special promotions, technical resources and the latest security information and price listings. Much of the information would be searchable.
Resellers would participate for free but would need to register online to create an account. Partners who joined up would enjoy discounted pricing, Poulter said.
The online store would be automated as much as possible so was expected to save money for the distributor and also for resellers, he said.
Developer Coconet Technology and Dovetail had taken months to get all the information together from many different vendors and develop the website, Poulter said.
"We found quite a few people asking about whether they could have something like that. I think the smaller resellers were struggling all the time, to sit down [to do orders] and what-not," he said.
