Oakton to buy Aston IT Group

Melbourne-based IT consulting and services company Oakton Limited has agreed to pay $4 million for Microsoft Business Solutions and Great Plains reseller Aston IT Group.

The acquisition - claimed to strengthen Oakton's Microsoft practice - will see Oakton grab 30 staff taking it total staff number to 330.

It also lets Oakton cross sell to Aston's clients and strengthens its relationship with Microsoft, the company claimed. Oakton also wants to increase its presence in the small and medium business market. "Oakton already has excellent relationships with the bigger end of town and this purchase will substantially broaden our customer base," said Paul Holyoake, MD at Oakton. Aston supplies IT services to more than 20 companies and designed a implemented a financial system for liquor retailer Dan Murphy's.
