An NBN Co data leak has revealed 14 previously-unannounced fibre rollout areas, some with ready for service dates between 2018 and 2020.
The extracted data includes 1108 fibre serving area modules (FSAMs) and an assortment of ready for service dates.
The location of about half of the FSAMs is simply listed as "not published to access seeker". Most can be roughly located using the three-letter code that denotes the fibre serving area (FSA) in which the FSAM sits.
But a data-matching exercise by iTnews shows 26 of the 1108 FSAMs are brand new and sit in 14 FSAs that have not previously been announced.
Many of these previously-unannounced areas sit adjacent to existing brownfields rollout areas included in NBN Co's three-year plan, which is shown on the online rollout map.
The new FSAs and FSAMs are located in NSW, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia.
Those with listed ready for service dates are:
|FSA||Location||State||Listed FSAMs||RFS Date|
|2BUR||Burwood||NSW||2BUR-10||10 March 2018|
|2GRA||Granville||NSW||2GRA-08||24 October 2018|
|2WET||Wetherill Park||NSW||2WET-08||26 December 2018|
|4CUR||Currumbin||QLD||4CUR-06||31 October 2019|
|4CUR-07||28 February 2020|
Burwood, west of Sydney's CBD, is located adjacent to areas either already serviced by fibre or where construction has commenced.
Granville, in the same vicinity, is sandwiched between areas where construction has commenced or will commence within three years.
Wetherill Park is between areas on the three-year construction roadmap. Currumbin is likewise south of an area already in the three-year plan.
The following new rollout areas do not have construction or ready for service dates, but do not appear in the three-year rollout plan or on the most recent Ready For Service plan as the site of a greenfields development.
|2AVA||Avalon Beach||NSW||01, 02, 03|
|3BUR||Burwood||VIC||01, 02, 03, 04|
|3HUR||Hurstbridge||VIC||01, 02, 03|
|4FHL||Ferny Hills||QLD||01, 02, 03, 04|
|6LWC||Lower Chittering Valley||WA||01|
It is possible not all of these new FSAMs denote brownfields fibre rollout areas; some of these codes may exist simply because one greenfields site within the FSAM boundary has applied for NBN fibre, but does not yet show up on the greenfields waiting list.
