The network builder started offering the 25 Mbps service on June 18, having mooted plans to offer the service back in February, it said today.

NBN Co said it had "initiated a program of local and direct communications reaching all fixed wireless areas" to advertise availability of the new tier.

ISP SkyMesh is among the first to unveil retail pricing. It will charge $5 more than the cost of a standard 12/1 Mbps service, which includes the $3 added wholesale cost of the 25/5 Mbps tier.

Activ8me has previously indicated it would follow the same pricing convention once the 25/5 Mbps service was made available.

"Once the upgrade is implemented by NBN Co, Activ8me fixed wireless customers will have the option to upgrade to the 25/5Mbps speed tier for an additional $5 per month," the company stated.

ISP Internode is reviewing its retail pricing in line with the new tier, but did not detail when 25/5Mbps pricing would be unveiled.
