Software and services company Mincom has signed a three-year managed services contract with Tarong Energy Corporation.

The infrastructure and support services would be provided to Tarong Energy by the service provider's IT services business, Mincom Managed Services (MMS).

Tarong Energy has an option to extend the contract beyond 2008, according to Mincom.

Ray Storace, executive vice-president of global managed services and customer support at Mincom, said contracting the delivery of these operational services to MMS meant Tarong Energy could concentrate on IT strategy and ensure that those services met its business needs.

MMS would supply data communications, network, desktop, help desk, server, security, disaster recovery and applications support and maintenance services to the electricity generator.

This would cover five sites in Queensland and South Australia, according to a statement from Mincom.

Tarong Energy is an electricity generator owned by the Queensland Government.
