Marines buy into ID management

By

The United States Marine Corps (USMC) has deployed an identity management that allows soldiers to carry out more self-service tasks.

The MaXware Identity Center is a web-based interface that validates marines' identities so they can perform certain functions themselves, such as password resets. Administrators at USMC can set policies depending on rank or security clearance levels that determine access rights.

"Having an effective identity management solution in place is crucial to the security efforts of any government organization," said Tore Wold, president and CEO of MaXware AS. "The fact that Identity Center meets the USMC's stringent security requirements is a testament to our capabilities."

The project is an upgrade of a basic Identity Center solution that the USMC bought in 2003.
