Mobile.kaspersky.com will contain information on Kaspersky’s Anti-Virus Mobile product, which is claimed to protect Symbian OS and Windows Mobile smartphones from malware and short message service (SMS), express mail server (EMS) and mobile messaging service (MMS) spam.

Visitors to the site can also download trial versions of the software and search a virus encyclopaedia, which includes details of the latest malware targeting mobile devices, according to the Russian-based company.

“It is clear that portable machines are far from immune to attack,” warned David Emm, senior technology consultant at Kaspersky Lab, in a statement.

“Once the number of smartphones, and their use for conducting online business, reaches 'critical mass', it's likely that they will become a serious target for cyber criminals,” he added.
