Japanese Government creates independent IT security agency

By

Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has created an independent agency for IT security.

The agency, which builds on the Japanese government's IT Promotion Agency, will analyse security loopholes of operating systems and other computer software used throughout the country.

In a statement, METI said that the as-yet unnamed agency would seek to prevent virus creation, hacking and would publish a list of companies that do not heed its requests to close security loopholes.
