A non-profit healthcare organization is stepping up its email security to protect the privacy of protected health information (PHI) and achieve HIPAA compliance.

Rex Healthcare has chosen Sigaba Secure E-mail to manage its messages. The firm said it expects Sigaba to provide authentication and encryption services.

"We wanted a solution that would be easy to use for the sender," said Tom Schnittker, manager, IT security and data center operations for Rex Healthcare. "[It] gives us the flexibility to trigger the encryption process both on-demand by the user and automatically through a rule base on the gateway. We also felt that [it] had less administrative overhead involved as compared to some of its competitors."

Pricing for the Sigaba service begins at $50,000.
