Hardware failure hits iiNet broadband, 3G data

The fault started after midday AEST yesterday as iiNet customers were disconnected from their internet service.

iiNet engineers performed emergency works throughout the day in an effort to repair the issue but were unable to resolve the problem.

An iiNet representative said on the Whirlpool forum that "the current fault significantly impacts our visibility of other customer issues," making it difficult for the ISP to locate other service problems.

Later in the day iiNet's 3G mobile data services across Australia were affected by the hardware failure, with the fault lasting from late afternoon into the night.

iiNet advised early this morning that it had replaced the unspecified faulty hardware and no further impact to customers had since been experienced.

iTnews has requested further details from iiNet of the hardware failure.
