Hacker admits stalking US rocker

Devon Townsend, a former laboratory worker from New Mexico, confessed to using US government computers to access Chester Bennington’s personal data.

The 28-year-old hacked into the singer’s personal email account and the website of his mobile phone provider to access his number and answer-phone messages. She also obtained information about his wife.

The obsessed fan also admitted hacking into the musician’s personal accounts and viewing his family photographs, checking his travel plans and scrutinising his business correspondence, including a recent house purchase, between January and November last year.

In court, Townsend pleaded guilty to charges including stalking and computer hacking. She could face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to £125,000 per offence, according to prosecutors. No date has yet been set for sentencing.
