Firewall Systems has added another supplier to its swelling vendor ranks signing to distribute Crossbeam Systems' unified threat management (UTM) security appliance products.

The security-focused distributor joins LAN Systems on Crossbeam's books. Crossbeam started using LAN earlier this year as a result of a global contract via LAN's owner, Westcon Group.

Peter Owen, country manager at Crossbeam, said Firewall appealed due to its specific focus on security and its maintenance services that the company could not facilitate through LAN Systems.

Firewall's services would reduce financial risk to resellers selling the Crossbeam products. Resellers would not have to maintain stocks of spare parts, he said. Firewall also had engineers in Sydney and Melbourne that were being certified in Crossbeam's technology.

Nick Verykios, marketing director at Firewall, said resellers working with the distributor to provide Trend Micro and Check Point software were asking for a single hardware security platform. "Crossbeam provides that UTM platform along with centralised management and great performance," he said.
