Zaxby's said it found malware capable of stealing credit and debit information along with names but could not confirm if the data was stolen.

It said it would install additional security measures at its locations.

The company did not provide additional information or respond to a request for comment.

Chief financial officer Blake Bailey told CRN the malware was found on computer hard drives, not  point of sale systems.

Zaxby's advised victims to monitor their bank accounts for fraudulent activity and to order a free copy of their credit report.

The chain said it did not have “sufficient contact information” to personally notify all who had been affected by the incident.
