management.

Duo to protect software rights
Intellectual property specialist Black Duck Software has made a deal with IT services giant Atos Origin to bundle the Black Duck ProtexIP suite with Atos’s consulting, systems integration, and application management services.

Douglas Levin, chief executive of Black Duck Software, said the Black Duck suite helps companies manage the intellectual property (IP) of their software assets. “We support the full lifecycle, from conception to coding and code analysis, then identification of IP issues, then licences and business model questions, and finally the auditing and documentation of the code,” he added.

Black Duck already has a footprint in Japan, Korea and Australia. “The Atos deal is our first step into Europe, and is important for the UK with its many open-source developers,” said Levin.
