Ultraserve, a local provider of cloud and managed hosting services, plans to expand overseas with a multi-million-dollar investment by internet entrepreneur Simon Hackett and the appointment of former iiNet CTO John Lindsay to the company's board.

UltraServe founder and CEO Samuel Yeats agreed to sell a 40 percent stake in the business, and plans to use the capital will fuel expansion plans for the company's Lighthouse customer management platform.
“I’ve been building the business largely on my own for the past 14 years," Yeats said.
"John and Simon have significant practical experience in the sector and a proven track record of growing similar businesses like iiNet and Internode. The pair has great credibility and coupled with the capital injection, UltraServe is well positioned to grow.”
UltraServe manages servers and online traffic for a mix of emerging and established multi-channel and internet retailers including Fantastic Furniture, Spotlight, Deals Direct, and General Pants.
The injection of cash will allow the company to offer solutions it has developed for the hosting of Hybris and Magento e-commerce solutions to retailers outside of Australia that are seeking to expand their client base across the globe. These services will be made available across Europe and Asia and initial targets will include UK-based organisations looking to enter the US market.
In addition, UltraServe is commercialising the company’s cloud service management system, Lighthouse, existing users of which include unnamed Australian wholesale Telco providers.
Lighthouse provides telcos and managed service providers direct integration with many common platform solutions such as AWS and VMware either natively or via the Lighthouse API.
Lighthouse is vendor-neutral, allowing service providers to embrace multiple cloud providers without disruption to existing infrastructure.
