The US Department of Justice and the US Federal Trade Commission have effectively cleared Oracle's proposed acquisition of BEA Systems..

The two authorities granted an early termination of the Hart-Scott-Rodino review period applying to the deal.

BEA has scheduled a special meeting of its stockholders on 4 April to consider and vote on the proposed merger.

The transaction still requires BEA stockholder approval and regulatory clearance from the European Commission. Other closing conditions also apply.
