Citizens Bank is alerting its customers that it is experiencing “intermittent interruption” caused by distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.

According to a message found on its website as of Thursday afternoon, online and mobile banking services may be inaccessible to account holders due to the issue.

It's unclear if the attacks are the work of hacktivists, which have repeatedly struck major banks in ongoing campaigns.

Citizens Bank posted a customer service number in its alert for customers with additional questions. The company said that customer accounts and users' personal information was not compromised as a result of the attacks.
