Cisco says it will shed a further 1300 jobs in an ongoing drive targetting $US1 billion in savings.
The workforce reduction comes after Cisco announced plans last year to cut some 6500 jobs. Currently, Cisco employes just over 65,000 people worldwide.
"We are performing a focused set of limited restructurings that will collectively impact approximately 2 percent of our global employee population," the company said in an emailed statement.
The company said the actions were part of a "continuous process" to simplify the structure.
Chief executive John Chambers launched a fluid restructuring plan last year to cut expenses by $1 billion in an effort to make the company leaner and more efficient.
At the time, Cisco said it planned to cut 15 percent of its workforce in response to tighter economic conditions.
