BT boosts remote security with Hybrid VPN

By

New offering could simplify remote access.

BT has launched a new service designed to help customers allow more employees to work remotely with a high level of security and at relatively low cost.

Hybrid Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a managed network solution enabling organisations to access corporate VPNs via the public internet.

The new service can be deployed rapidly on a global scale, and could be used as a backup to a firm's primary access service, according to BT. It could also help multinationals to reduce the number of separate contracts they need to manage with ISPs in different geographies, simplifying matters considerably.

"Hybrid VPN is the latest product to be launched on our next-generation, software-driven 21CN global IP network, and joins our BT Intelligent Networks family of services," explained Neil Sutton, vice president of BT Global Services' global portfolio.

"It offers operational efficiencies to customers to extend company applications to smaller and remote offices without the investment needed for 'do-it-yourself' solutions."

Hybrid VPN will be available soon for BT's Intelligent VPN offering.
