Bill would enhance federal agencies' infosec planning

Representatives Adam Putnam (R-Fla.) and Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.) last week introduced H.R. 4570, which would amend the Clinger-Cohen Act to explicitly identify infosec as a component that federal agencies must evaluate in their IT investment planning.

The bill follows one of the recommendations issued in April by Putnam's Corporate Information Security Working Group, which included representatives from industry and academia. Putnam formed the group to develop alternatives to a proposal he had drafted that would have required publicly traded companies to file their infosec plans with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
