Steven Evans joins at a “time of continued transformation”.

Barbeques Galore has appointed Steven Evans to the role of chief financial officer role, replacing Mitchell Koureas.

Barbeques Galore CEO Angus McDonald took to LinkedIn to announce the news, stating Evans’ “breadth of experience will be a great asset for our business given our diverse operating model across wholesale, retail, franchising and product development”.

“With a career spanning over 30 years in corporate finance, Steven commenced with PwC before working through a number of different industries including retail, healthcare, and manufacturing, including CFO appointments at Inova Pharmaceuticals, Lonsec Holdings and GLG Lighting,” McDonald said.  

“Steven joins Barbeques Galore at a time of continued transformation of the business with the rollout of a new store experience underway including the addition of 3 new stores this year, renewal of ranges with a number of major new product launches in the coming season, expansion of the BBQ Legends Club loyalty program, and further investment in systems and processes occurring across the business,” McDonald added.

Evans also commented on his new role thanking McDonald “and team for the warm 'week 1' welcome, looking forward to an exciting journey ahead.”

Koureas has moved on from the CFO spot after fourteen years with the retailer of BBQs, outdoor furniture, wood heaters and BBQ accessories.

He said via LinkedIn he is “moving on from Barbeques Galore”.

“It has been an incredible journey filled with growth, learning, cherished memories and most importantly, wonderful people.

“I am immensely grateful for the opportunities I have been afforded and the support I have received from colleagues, the leadership team, trade partners and the board. Their guidance and encouragement have been instrumental in shaping my professional journey.

“As I move on to new horizons, I carry with me the valuable lessons and experiences gained during my tenure at Galore. I am excited to embark on this next chapter of my career,” Koureas said.
