The politicians were clued in about how to change “incorrect or biased” information on their Wikipedia pages by Parliamentary Librarian Roxanne Missingham.
Since Monday this week, more than 30 Wikipedia edits have been made from computers in the Department of Parliamentary Services, which houses the Parliamentary Library.
Hundreds of other Wikipedia edits from over the past few years have come from the same address.
Many of the edits just changed incorrect details, while others removed critical comments or controversial information.
A few politicians, including Labour Whip Roger Price and Opposition Leader
Brendan Nelson, have said they believe it is fair for politicians to make corrections to their own pages.
Wikipedia volunteers, however, have said they are outraged and that these actions go against the very spirit of the site’s principles of having a neutral point of few.
